How To Witness To Jews 1

Romans 1:16: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Romans 2:9-10: Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:

Genesis 12:3: And I will bless them that bless thee, (I believe this applies to Abram and to his descendants, the people of Israel) and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Romans 10:17: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

The Old Testament is just as much the Word of God as the New Testament. Therefore it is useful in bringing people to faith. It will be appropriate to use the Old Testament first in witnessing to Jews because it is to them much like the entire Bible is to Christians. Many Jews will be more open to hearing gospel truths from the Old Testament. They are like Christians in the sense that most of them are not well read in The Old Testament just as most Christians are not well read in the Bible. The Jewish Tanach is pretty much the same as our Old Testament. The first five books of the Bible are called by Jews the Torah. In general the Old Testament looks forward to Christ who is the Jewish Messiah while The New Testament looks back upon Him. The New Testament often quotes the Old.

A Christian who has neglected the Old Testament may not be very fruitful in winning Jews to Christ.

Galatians 3:24: Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

The law is given in the Old Testament, specifically in Exodus chapter 20. Because of the Jewish fall Gentiles are saved. And because of Gentile salvation, Jews can be made jealous.

Romans 11:11: I say then, Have they (Israel) stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.

Romans 10:19: But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.
